Two Mulga snakes were captured wrestling at the Australian Wildlife Conservancy’s (AWC) Scotia Sanctuary, according to footage posted on January 3 by the conservancy.
The snakes, also known as king browns, fought for “well over an hour,” the AWC said.
Tali Moyle, the AWC ecologist who captured this footage said that males will often wrestle to prove their dominance during mating season in the early spring.
“Although Mulga Snakes are fairly common, it’s not too often you see this behaviour – this is only the second time I’ve seen it,” Moyle said. Credit: Tali Moyle/ Australian Wildlife Conservancy via Storyful
