Hindu devotees take holy dip in rivers

According to Hindu beliefs, deities go to sleep for four months of rainy season and wake up on 'Dev Uthi Ekadasi'.

During this period all the auspicious events are banned and this day marks the beginning of wedding season among Hindu and Jain communities, with the wedding of holy basil plant 'Tulsi' and her husband, Shaligram.

Devotees take holy dip in rivers and perform the wedding of 'Tulsi and Shaligram', marking the beginning of auspicious events.
