The couple met in May 2009, when they were introduced by Jeffrey's former Supernatural costar,Jensen Ackles.

During an episode of the couple's weekly video-chat-based show on AMC, Friday Night in with the Morgans, the two reminisced about how Ackles invited Jeffrey to join him and Hilarie for drinks in Los Angeles one night.

"You pulled up in your Harley, and we were sitting there in the front window, and Hilarie sees this guy get off a bike in slow-motion and take his helmet off and throw his hair [around]," Ackles recalled, before chuckling, "It was all very surreal. You walked in, the two of you locked eyes, and that was pretty much the rest of the evening."

The two have been together ever since, welcoming son Augustus "Gus" in March 2010 and daughter George in 2018. After a decade of dating, the pair secretly tied the knot on Oct. 5, 2019, in an intimate ceremony in New York surrounded by friends, family and their two kids.

"We had built this life together," Hilarie told PEOPLE shortly after their nuptials. "We'd had kids together. I think there comes a point where you just don't want to go another day by being inauthentic about it."
