Footage released on January 27 showed police in Doncaster, England, ramming a gray van on April 4, 2020, after a pursuit in which the vehicle repeatedly drove over a median onto the wrong side of the road.
Police said officers were patrolling the area when the van “caught their eye.” When it failed to stop, a pursuit began. The van “exceeded the speed limit, drove over pedestrianized areas and through red lights erratically, showing disregard for other road users, pedestrians and officers,” South Yorkshire Police said.
Officers eventually forced the van to stop, and despite an attempt to flee on foot, the driver was arrested. Tony Ellison, a 39-year-old man, was sentenced on January 21, 2021, to 18 months in prison. He was also banned from driving for 12 months upon his release. Credit: South Yorkshire Police via Storyful
