Here's Why McDonald’s Is Becoming 'WcDonald's'McDonald's

It appears that McDonald's has found itself in the upside down. And fortunately for us, it isn't stuck in some gloomy Stranger Things-inspired dimension. Instead, McDonald's is flipping its iconic logo—switching it from "McDonald's" to "WcDonald's"—as an homage to anime.

The golden upside down arches of WcDonald's, McDonald's anime alter ego, have made frequent appearances in some of anime's most popular TV shows and movies. And to satisfy fans' imagination, McDonald's is bringing fiction to real life with a big WcDonald's rollout that will include a new sauce, manga-inspired packaging, episodic short videos, and more.

Easily the most delicious part of the WcDonald's launch is the new, limited-edition Savory Chili WcDonald's Sauce. The spicy sauce is a savory combination of ginger, garlic, and chili flakes, and is described as boasting "an energetic blast of flavor in every bite."

According to McDonald's, next week's WcDonald's anime crossover is something fans have been hoping for for years.

"Anime is a huge part of today's culture, and we love that our fans have been inviting us into the conversation for years," said Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald's USA, in a statement. "The WcDonald's universe is a reflection of what fans have created. It honors their vision and celebrates their creativity, while authentically bringing it to life in our restaurants for the first time ever."

Ready to take a trip to the WcDonald's universe? The campaign will launch at McDonald's locations in over 30 global markets on Monday, February 26.
