Henry Huo surprised by new romance making headlines

19 May – Singer-songwriter Henry Huo couldn't help but be in a daze, after his relationship suddenly made headlines online.

On 17 May, the mainland performer took to Weibo to express his thoughts about the news about his "new" girlfriend, saying that there is nothing new about it as they have been together for the past two years.

"Today's trending topic has dropped and my dad came out to join in on the fun, and didn't tell me when he was interviewed. Parents all over the world want their children to be happy, and it's normal for parents to urge marriage, but it depends on whether Xiaolan agrees or not," he wrote, addressing the rumours that he is tying the knot soon.

Henry also stated that his life for the past two years has been very peaceful, from accompanying his ailing mother, writing songs and helping friends with work.

"Thank you for all the well wishes. Let's stop the hot searches and return to our own little lives," he said.

Henry got everybody talking recently, after he decided to share a photo of him and his new girlfriend Shi Binglan, writing, "We have been together for more than two years. Thanks for your concern."

The singer's reputation was marred in controversy back in August 2021, after his ex-girlfriend Chen Lu claimed that he cheated on her throughout their nine-year relationship with multiple women. He later released a statement, saying that he will withdraw from showbiz as the controversy had affected many others' lives.

It was later revealed that Chen Lu's accusations were fabricated lies and that she tried to blackmail him using his private text messages. She was eventually arrested for extortion.
