Henry Cavill is reportedly in negotiations to reprise his role as the Man of Steel.

According to The Wrap, it's not yet known in what capacity Cavill could be set to return as Superman, but there's speculation going on already.

While there's potential that it may only be for additional scenes in the now-confirmed 'Snyder cut' of Justice League, it could also be for future movies in the DC Extended Universe.

Cavill first took up the role for Man of Steel in 2013, rebooting Superman following 2006's Superman Returns.

He then played Clark Kent again in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, followed by the ill-feted Justice League movie in 2017.

Director Zack Snyder quit the movie six months prior to release, due to a family tragedy, with Joss Whedon taking over the reigns.

But things did not go well – expensive reshoots were undertaken, which included a huge bill for removing a moustache Cavill had grown for his next project, the Man from U.N.C.L.E. reboot.

The DCEU then faltered after Justice League, much like the grim Batman v Superman, was pummelled by critics.

Ben Affleck quit as Batman, and Cavill followed suit too in the summer of 2018.

But now, after much myth, rumour and campaigning online, Snyder confirmed that his re-cut of the movie will land on HBO's new streaming service, HBO Max, next year.

How much this will cost Warner Bros, however, is currently subject to additional rumour.

It was said that the studio was throwing a further $30 million towards presenting Snyder's original vision of the film, but Warner boss Bob Greenblatt has hinted that it will cost more. Way more.

He told the Recode Media podcast: “It isn't as easy as going into the vault and there's a Snyder Cut sitting there to put out... Zack is actually building it and it's complex, including - and I don't wanna get into too much detail that we haven't already talked about yet - but, new effects shots.

“It's a radical rethinking of that movie and it's complicated and wildly expensive. Which is, of course, a number I won't quote... I'll just say I wish it was $30 million and stop there.”
