The blaze broke out on Friday around noon in the Sierra de Mijas mountains, near Mijas town, which is popular with international tourists.
Around 2,300 people were evacuated from nearby Alhaurin el Grande and Alhaurin de la Torre as the blaze got dangerously close to homes, the regions emergency services said in a tweet.
