Heavy Rain Causes Flash Flooding in Western Australia

Heavy rainfall brought flash flooding to parts of Western Australia on Wednesday, January 4, as former Tropical Cyclone Ellie moved slowly over Kimberley.

This video showing flooding was filmed by Nekaya Jay, who said it was captured in Broome.

The Bureau of Meteorology for Western Australia said on Wednesday morning the highest rainfall total recorded in the previous 24 hours was 206 mm measured at Broome Airport.

The bureau warned on Wednesday that damaging winds and intense rainfall were possible overnight. It said the former cyclone was expected to move to the southeast during Thursday. Credit: Nekaya Jay via Storyful
