Attention all Potterheads! A new Harry Potter theme park is opening in Tokyo in 2023. According to CNN, Warner Bros. Studio and Warner Bros. Japan just finalized a deal to bring the "Making of Harry Potter" attraction to the grounds of the historic Toshimaen Amusement Park, a 94-year-old amusement park that plans to close at the end of August.
The new "Making of Harry Potter" attraction—officially called the “Studio Tour Tokyo"— will be the second of its kind in the world. The first one opened in London about eight years ago. With more than 36,000 "excellent" ratings on TripAdvisor, the indoor park, which showcases Wizarding World props and sets, has been a huge hit with muggles.
So what can Harry Potter fans expect at the new theme park in Tokyo? Building on the London attraction, Studio Tour Tokyo will give visitors an immersive, behind-the-scenes look at the making of Harry Potter, according to a press release. The Tokyo park will also give fans an inside look at the world of Fantastic Beasts, which expands upon the original Harry Potter series. The park will showcase the films' iconic movie sets and the original costumes and props.
Set to cover about 30,000 square meters, the park will take about half a day to walk through. Even before entering the spacious park, visitors will be greeted with a magical display of sculptures and mystical characters from the films.
