'Harry Potter' star pregnant with first child

Another Harry Potter star is set to welcome their first child, as Afshan Azad has announced her pregnancy.

She is a veteran of five Harry Potter films, where she played Padma Patil, but now Azad is ready to take on a new role as a mum.

Azad posted a photo of herself and her husband Nabil holding her baby bump on Instagram, where she announced the happy news.

She wrote: "The secrets out everyone - I’m going to be a mummy!!! Thanking Allah SWT for gifting us our biggest blessing yet. Baby Kazi due this July inshAllah. Both our hearts are filled with love, excitement and nerves! Not long to go, please keep us all in your prayers."

Posting again after congratulations from her followers, Azad wrote: "Thank you to everyone for your kind comments and well wishes. We were so overwhelmed with everyone’s positivity and love yesterday. Baby Kazi is already so so loved.

"Ps prepare for a major bump photo-dump over the next few days/weeks. Sorry not sorry."

After her time in the Harry Potter films, Azad found a new career as a beauty influencer on social media.

She got married in 2018 with guests at her wedding including Harry Potter co-stars Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang, and Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley.

Azad isn't the only Harry Potter alumni to have shared baby news recently.

Rupert Grint, who starred as Ron Weasley, welcomed his first child in May 2020, and Devon Murray, who played Seamus Finnigan, became a dad for the first time in January this year.

However, January was a stressful time for Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown - her newborn son was admitted to hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, although he has luckily made a good recovery.
