Harrison Ford received the assistance of a Good Samaritan when he lost his credit card in Sicily.

The 79-year-old actor was on an Italian beach holiday during a break in the filming of action-adventure sequel Indiana Jones 5 when his card went missing, according to the Associated Press.

The actor was holidaying in the Sicilian resort of Mondello, which is best known for its mile-long beach and selection of seafood restaurants.

It was a German tourist who was ultimately able to reunite the actor with his card, having handed it in to a local police station.

Ford was pictured alongside several police officers in an image shared on social media by Italian news agency Adnkronos.

Ford is currently in the midst of filming for Indiana Jones 5, which is set to continue the long-running franchise for the first time since 2008's Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

It will be the first movie in the franchise not to be directed by Steven Spielberg, who has handed the reins to Logan filmmaker James Mangold.

Little is currently known about the movie's plot, though there are rumours that time travel may be involved due to the presence of actors dressed as Roman soldiers during the filming in Italy.

Among the new additions to the cast list are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Toby Jones and Antonio Banderas.

Indiana Jones 5 has faced a long and circuitous path to the big screen, with five years already having passed since it was formally announced in 2016.

Filming began in June of this year, with Pinewood Studios playing host to scenes, as well as Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland and numerous locations in Scotland.
