Owen Hargreaves thinks there is “a million miles more to come” from Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho after watching him on Thursday night.

The Red Devils beat Leicester City 1-0 thanks to a cool first-half goal from the England international, who is now on two Premier League goals for this season.

Sancho is yet to get anywhere his brilliant spell at Dortmund in terms of goals and assists and Hargreaves reckons there is bags more to come from the 22-year-old.

The losers of the summer 2022 transfer window: Liverpool, Manchester United and more

Hargreaves said on BT Sport: “I think there’s a million miles more to come, I think there’s so much more to come from Jadon.

“I think it’s been difficult for him because he came into a team that was really struggling. You want to come into a new team, you want to come into one that’s really settled. It had a lot of issues.

“I think they brought him to play on the right-hand side because they had Martial and Rashford. Jadon looks better of the left-hand side.

“There’s a fantastic player there, there really is I think he’s got so much. I think in a way at Dortmund he had Hakimi at right-back who took the width and he came inside and then he had Haaland to link with so that whole right-hand channel was world class.

“I think with the personnel United had it didn’t really suit him. Jadon wants to come and link and play little one-twos and play decisive passes. I think Jadon has done really well but there’s still more to come.”

And Sancho’s manager Erik ten Hag is also backing the Man Utd winger to show more during the rest of the Premier League season.

“I think he had quite a good pre-season,” Ten Hag said after the final whistle in United’s win over Leicester.

“He understands now he has to invest in the physical (side) and that is what he did. Now he gets the reward and that is what he has to bring.

“I’m sure this is just the start for him. With his potential, there’s much more room for improvement.

“Then he can be even more important and contribute with his creativity, with scoring goals and assists, and also with the defending part he can be even more important.”

Asked whether he can become a prolific goalscorer, Ten Hag added: “Yes, I think he can.

“He has the capabilities and he did it also in a different league, but this is the Premier League.

“The intensity is higher so he has to adapt to that, mentally, the physical (side). The capabilities are there, the skills.”
