Hamid Gurkha passed away at 87

15 Jun - Legendary comedian Hamid Gurkha has recently passed away.

The sad news was announced by the late actor's youngest daughter Nor Ashita, saying that Hamid had been struggling with several health complications including tuberculosis.

"After six days in hospital, it looks like God loves him more. We have accepted his departure," she said.

The actor passed away at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) at 2.19pm on 14 June.

It was last week that Nor Ashita denied that her father was in a critical condition, but admitted that Hamid had been treated in the hospital. The comedian was also previously tested positive for COVID-19.

The actor, who first became known through the film "Panglima Badol" in 1978, did not suffer from a chronic illness.

Hamid and Timah Abdul Hamid, 80, were married for over six decades since April 1957. Through the marriage, they have been blessed with eight children, though two of the children have passed away.

He was also blessed with 32 grandchildren and 18 great -grandchildren.

He was 87.
