Halifax Public Libraries and union reach tentative agreement
Striking Halifax Public Libraries staff could be heading back to work soon.
In a news release on Friday afternoon, Halifax Public Libraries and the Nova Scotia Union of Public and Private Employees Local 14 announced they had reached a tentative agreement on outstanding issues.
A vote on the deal "will take place as quickly as possible by both the NSUPE Local 14 membership and the Library Board," the release said.
If the agreement is ratified, the unionized library workers could be back to work next week and all branches and locations would resume regular hours as of Sept. 19.
Staff have been on strike since Aug. 26.
