Hailstorm leaves Byron Bay's streets white

STORY: Eyewitness Geoff Bensley, who lived in Lennox Head, just over 12 miles south of Byron Bay, told Reuters that the hailstorm happened around 5 p.m. local time (0700GMT).

Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology said that the hail was an uncommon event, which stemmed from a thunderstorm that originated from cold air mass from the south and tropical air mass from the north meeting over Mullumbimby.
