Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has the potential to be the best player in Premier League history, according to Jamie Carragher.

The Norwegian sensation has hit the ground running in England after joining City from Borussia Dortmund for £51million.

Big Weekend: Man Utd v Arsenal, Chelsea, Erling Haaland, Frank Lampard

He has a pretty pathetic nine goals in his opening five Premier League appearances.

Haaland has scored a hat-trick in two consecutive top-flight games, against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, becoming the sixth player to do this in the competition’s history.

The 22-year-old is unsurprisingly top of the goal scoring charts and doesn’t look like he will move from top spot this term, as long as he stays healthy.

Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez, Manuel Akanji and Stefan Ortega also joined the Premier League champions in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool legend Carragher has reviewed City’s summer business and was very high in praise of Haaland.

“I’d probably say Man City have had a really good window with the players they brought in,” he told Sky Sports.

“They lost a lot of attacking players but you look at Haaland and Alvarez, who’s starting already to look real quality.

“Haaland is the one that jumps out at you, he just looks absolutely amazing.

“I’m doing the game on Saturday at Villa Park, Aston Villa vs Man City. I’m excited to watch any game but to watch him in the flesh and commentate on him for the first time and really get a good look at him off the ball as well. I’m really excited to watch him.

“We know we’ve got a great player in the league but I think we’ve got something really, really special.

“When he’s finished his time at Man City or in the Premier League, we’ll be putting him alongside Thierry Henry.

“I think this lad could end up being the best player we’ve seen in the Premier League, I really do believe that. I think he’s that special.

“He’s made a brilliant start and I can’t say long may that continue because that would be a lie but I’m really excited to see him at the weekend.”

City are one of two teams in the Premier League – alongside Arsenal – yet to taste defeat this season.
