Gwyneth Paltrow reveals she was 'drinking seven nights a week' during lockdown
From 'orgasm' candles to £5,000 wellness cruises, sometimes Gwyneth Paltrow hasn't come across as the most relatable of people – but her latest admission about her lockdown drinking habits might strike a chord with fellow mothers.
The actress, 48, has revealed that she got into the habit of consuming alcohol daily during part of the pandemic.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "I drank alcohol during quarantine. I was drinking seven nights a week and making pasta and eating bread. I went totally off the rails.
“I mean, who drinks multiple drinks seven nights a week? Like, that’s not healthy. I love whiskey and I make this fantastic drink called the Buster Paltrow, which I named after my grandfather who loved whiskey sours.
“And it’s this great quinoa whiskey from this distillery in Tennessee with maple syrup and lemon juice. It’s just heaven. I would have two of those every night of quarantine.”
Paltrow certainly isn't the only one pouring herself a tipple more often than usual over the past year – in April, research showed that one in four people have been turning to alcohol to cope with lockdown.
The Goop founder – who shares daughter Apple, 16, and son Moses, 15, with ex-husband Chris Martin – also recently spoke out about the pressure on mothers.
Speaking on the YouTube series Coach Conversations, the Oscar winner explained: "I think there's this tendency sometimes, 'Did you breastfeed? Did you not breastfeed? Are you doing sleep training, are you not?'
"People get so triggered and so opinionated and I think it's so important to understand that all moms are doing their best.
"Advice, while it can be wonderful if someone asks you for it, it's different than judgement."
Paltrow – who married Brad Falchuk in 2018 – has been on the receiving end of plenty of opinions over the years.
This included from her own daughter, who shared her embarrassment when her famous mum posted a nude pic to Instagram to celebrate her birthday last year.
The star captioned the outdoor picture: "In nothing but my birthday suit today... thank you all so much for the birthday wishes."
To the amusement of many fellow social media users, her eldest child commented: "MOM."
