Gwen Stefani Nonchalantly Responded to Rumors That She and Blake Shelton Called Their Wedding Off

From Woman's Day

Thank you, Hoda Kotb. The Today co-host finally asked the question we all want an answer to: When are Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton getting married? The “Hollaback Girl” singer appeared on Today to discuss returning to The Voice alongside her longtime boyfriend. But Kotb couldn’t help but squeeze in some wedding chat.

Before the interview, Kotb said she Googled “Gwen and Blake,” and one of the automated search fills was “Gwen and Blake call off wedding,” a rumor that has widely circulated online.

“So what’s happening with the wedding?” she asked. Stefani didn’t skip a beat. “Wow… that’s a really good question,” she said. “Well, the good news is that we still like each other a lot, so that’s good.”

And the dish stopped there. “I don’t know,” she laughed. “We’ll see what happens, you know what I’m saying?”

This isn’t the first time Stefani’s addressed her relationship status in an interview. In August, while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, singer Dua Lipa accidentally called Shelton her husband. “So I heard that you’ve been spending quarantine with your husband Blake Shelton at the ranch in Oklahoma,” Dua said. “Who else was with you? How was that?”

Stefani was quick to respond: “Um, well...he’s not my husband, but that sounded cool when you said it.”

Shelton has also addressed the rumors, and admittedly loves that some people think they’re married already. “I love the rumors. Those rumors are great,” he said in a January interview with Entertainment Tonight. “Anybody that thinks that I’m married to Gwen already, I love it. My God. Who wouldn’t want to be married to Gwen Stefani?”

In the same interview, Shelton said they both believe “God had a hand” in their union. “I think both of us know that the timing and the way that she and I met and it came together and just felt like home — that’s not an accident,” he said. “It was evidence to us that God had a hand in it.”

The musicians aren’t technically (well, publicly) engaged yet, but that hasn’t stopped fans from rallying for their betrothal. I mean c’mon, they recently released their second, very affectionate duet, “Happy Anywhere”; Stefani honored Shelton on Father’s Day, referring to his influential role in her kids’ lives; and they recently bought their first house together.

Their relationship has certainly grown over the years — and we can’t wait to see what their future holds!
