Gusty Winds as Caldor Fire Burns Near Resort Destination Ahead of Labor Day Weekend

Firefighters battling the Caldor Fire in northern California faced gusty winds as the 213,270-acre wildfire burned near a resort destination ahead of Labor Day Weekend, authorities said.

This footage, released by fire officials, shows the fire burning in Caples Lake Campground north of Kirkwood Mountain Resort, one of the region’s largest ski resorts. It was using snow guns to protect its ski lifts from the fire, according to local reports.

Fire officials said the blaze at the campground was “starting to torch off with some gusty winds coming through” on Friday. The fire was 32 percent contained as of September 3. Credit: CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit via Storyful
