The Memphis Grizzlies announced on Tuesday that Ja Morant is doubtful to play for the rest of the postseason with the knee injury he sustained in Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors.
An MRI revealed a bone bruise that's expected to keep him sidelined. The Grizzlies anticipate that he will make a full recovery.
Morant sustained the injury in fourth quarter of Memphis' 142-112 Game 3 loss to Golden State in San Francisco on Saturday. After the game, Morant tweeted video of Warriors guard Jordan Poole grabbing his knee captioned "broke the code." He later deleted it.
The tweet was a reference to Warriors coach Steve Kerr telling reporters that Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks “broke the code” of player safety when he committed a flagrant foul that resulted in Gary Payton II breaking his elbow in Game 2.
Morant didn't play in Monday's 101-98 Game 4 loss and now appears to be done for the postseason. The Warriors lead the Western Conference semifinals series, 3-1, meaning that the Grizzlies' next loss in the series will be the last game of their season. Game 5 is scheduled Wednesday night in Memphis.
