Nothing seemed to go to plan on the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver)’s attempt to make time for their relationship went up in flames when he was called back to the hospital. A Double Date Gone Wrong

Teddy and Owen's attempt to reignite the flame in their relationship went haywire. During a double date, Owen was called back to the hospital. Teddy was left with Cass, who revealed over drinks that she was in “an open marriage.”

“We opened our marriage…I mean, with boundaries, of course, and it's not for everyone, but it worked wonders for us,” she shared, adding that she has been with her “hot single tennis pro.”

Teddy confided in her that she thought that she “needed a break from the kids, but maybe I just needed a break from Owen.” After her admission, Cass gave her a kiss, which left Teddy shocked.

Cass claimed she misread the situation and Teddy responded, “Your marriage might be open, but me and Owen, it’s closed. It’s very closed.”

Later in the episode, Owen was upset to learn what had happened between Teddy and Cass. He then questioned if his wife kissed her back.

Following His Heart

Schmitt was still debating whether to take the pediatric research position. But, when Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) learned of the opportunity, they offered him a general surgery attending job after he finished his residency.

“I’m not sure what to say,” he responded before Bailey suggested he “try it out” and be the attending on her service that night as a trial run.

During a surgery on a trauma patient, Schmitt was forced to make a difficult decision and ultimately was able to save a man’s kidney. Bailey then told him, “Beats the hell out of research.”

While it looked like Schmitt might stay at Grey Sloan Memorial, he once again questioned the direction of his career when he received a drawing. He ultimately decided that he was meant to go into pediatrics and turned down the attending job in Seattle to move to Texas.

“I think I would really like being a general attending here, but my love is peds,” he told Bailey and Webber. “I love the highs and the lows and the goofy things they say, and that when I save a kid, I'm not just saving a life, I'm saving a lifetime. And if I've learned anything from the two of you, it's to be passionate about your work.”

Losing Control

Being pregnant with twins and caring for two sick kids pushed Jo (Camilla Luddington) to the limit.

When Amelia arrived to pick up her and Atticus "Link" Lincoln (Chris Carmack)’s son, Jo went into defense mode, saying, “Despite what Link may have told you, I’m not incompetent… everything is under control. I’m fine.”

But, that clearly wasn’t the case. Jo later confided in Amelia about her parenting and relationship struggles. “We haven't been in the best place lately,” she said of her and Link.

However, Amelia reassured her that even when she was in a relationship with Link, she knew that he wanted to be with her.

“I would be lying if I said that the years of friendship between the two of you didn't bother me, but I think it was Link who was lying all along to himself,” she shared. “I think underneath it all, he always wanted you.”

Despite their conversation, Jo admitted to Link that she was still worried he wouldn’t stick around, saying, “What if you leave me? Everyone else has. I don’t want to do this alone.” This assumption hurt Link and he called her out on lumping him in with all the people who had hurt in the past.

Burning the Candle at Both Ends

Mika was overcome with fear as her sister Chloe received treatment for colorectal cancer. She admitted to Jules Millin (Adelaide Kane) that was struggling to sleep as she envisioned the worst-case scenarios for her younger sister.

Even though she hadn’t gotten any rest, Mika still jumped in to help Jules when a patient named Mr. Reilly's pump failed. She manually cranked the pump for 12 hours to save him.

After attempting to keep their relationship platonic after sharing some steamy kiss, she finally told Jules that she missed the way they were.

“I miss you. I miss us. You know, I don't even know if we were an us, but that thing we started, it made me feel. You shook me up in a good way, in a way I didn't even know I needed,” she shared.

After her declaration, Jules responded, “I really want to kiss you right now for a very long time,” and then asked for a rain check for after Mr. Reilly’s surgery.

Mika then drove Chloe home from the hospital but she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed the car.
