Greek workers strike over 'suffocating' inflation

STORY: High energy prices and soaring living costs have triggered strikes and protests across Europe, including in Germany, France and Spain.

Ferries were tied to docks at the country’s largest port, leaving travelers stranded, as ship crews took part in the 24-hour walkout. Cars filled the streets as commuters took to their vehicles, after public transport and taxi drivers joined the strike.

Thousands of protesters marched to parliament in Athens as part of the nationwide action - the second this year called by private and public sector unions representing over 2.5 million workers. They were joined by pensioners also demanding further financial support.
