Greek restaurants shuttered in protest over COVID measures

Last week authorities announced new measures which require the unvaccinated to provide negative tests to enter confined outdoor spaces of cafes and restaurants, while only vaccinated are allowed inside.

Owners say the sector has greatly suffered from restrictions and despite economic assistance from the government at the start of the pandemic they want further compensation to cope, including rent rebates, tax breaks, and exemptions from municipal fees.

The protesting business owners rallied outside the finance ministry and across from the parliament building, while a convoy of delivery drivers demonstrated on their motorcycles.
