The Great British Bake Off's Laura Adlington responds to online trolls

The Great British Bake Off star Laura Adlington has responded to trolls following the latest show.

Fans were devastated when favourite Hermine was sent home, with some thinking she had performed better in the semi-final than Laura.

Taking to Twitter, Laura revealed she's been on the receiving end of some unpleasant troll comments.

"It's easy to sit there on your sofa and judge," she wrote. "But I am a real person with feelings. Please take a moment to consider your words before you judge someone you've never met and whose food you've never tasted."

She continued: "It's ok to be sad your favourite person didn't go through, but please remember it's not my fault. I don't make the decisions. GBBO is all about kindness and I haven't seen much of that on here."

Hermine wrote an emotional letter about her time on the show following her exit.

"It has been an absolute privilege to make it to the tent and to have baked alongside 11 fantastic bakers, each with their own strengths. The camaraderie was amazing," she wrote.

"It was a summer full of emotions. Happy ones. Now back at home, I take a lot of joy in reflecting on these memories with a smile on my face and a certain warmth in my heart.

"I take away the friendship, the journey has proved to me that being yourself is all you need to be," she added.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, with new episodes debuting every Friday on Netflix.
