Weighted blankets have become incredibly popular over the last few years. Unlike traditional blankets that focus on material and/or warmth, these bad boys tap into the principle of Deep Touch Stimulation (DTS), which is a form of therapeutic touch or holding that relaxes the nervous system. As you sleep, the added weight will make you feel like you're being gently hugged.

You may be familiar with the Gravity Blanket, which was one of the first weighted blankets to hit in the market. Now, the brand has decided to one-up its iconic product with something even better: a weighted bathrobe.

Gravity Blankets teamed up with bedding company, Modernist, to introduce the Modernist X Gravity Weighted Robe. As Modernist writes on its Instagram page, this is the first-ever weighted bathrobe.

Available in navy, grey and white, this robe is essentially a wearable weighted blanket. However, it's way softer and easy to move in! Made with 100% polyester fleece, the Modernist X Gravity Weighted Robe is super cozy to slip into after a shower. In addition to its fluffy finish, the robe's gentle pressure will also help you sink into a state of relaxation.

While the average weighted blanket may tip the scales at 15 or 35 pounds, this robe is equipped with a three pound weight inside the collar to allow you to move freely throughout your home. The placement of the weight specifically targets the neck and shoulders, where tension often accumulates. As one shopper wrote in the comments, "Once you take it off it feels as though someone just got done massaging your shoulders."

Unlike the original Gravity Blanket, which is designed to promote better sleep, the weighted bath robe works to promote relaxation while wearing, which may in turn result in more restful sleep when it's time to hit the hay. However, the weighted bathrobe isn’t designed to make customers drowsy, but instead help them unwind.

Plus if you're looking to lighten things up, or clean the robe (it's machine-washable!), you can also remove the weights via a zipper located on the underside of the robe’s collar.
