Grass Fire Prompts Evacuations in Rapid City's North

A large grassfire burning in Rapid City’s north prompted local authorities to conduct pre-evacuation activities on October 4.

These videos from the Rapid City Police Department show the blaze producing clouds of smoke blown across empty plains by strong winds.

The blaze, known as the Auburn Fire, was being monitored overnight as near-critical fire weather conditions were expected through to Wednesday, according to the Rapid City Fire Department. Credit: RapidCityPD via Storyful
