The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has admittedly impacted "every single show" of The Grand Tour of this year, but James May has a positive update for fans of the Amazon series.

Ahead of the release of The Grand Tour: A Massive Hunt later this month, James promised that the show will be back bigger and better than ever in 2021, revealing that there are plans for not one but two special episodes.

Speaking to press, James confirmed that he, Jeremy, and Richard have "already filmed one for next year" – a "Scotland adventure" – and they hope to film another, all being well. "It depends what happens with all the COVID stuff," he said (via Radio Times).

"But I'm confident we'll be able to film another one, so two will come out in 2021!"

As for the Russia special that was derailed by *gestures vaguely to everything*, James reassured fans that they've not cancelled it entirely, just pumped the brakes: "We're just having to put it in the cupboard at the moment, but we will get it out one day and finish it off."

Of course, things are still likely to feel a little different. "The Grand Tour will always be The Grand Tour, it may be a little more nested," James added, before admitting that the key ingredients will always be there. "It will still be us three and cars!"
