Govt say conduct vote about 'right of appeal' and 'fairness'

Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng defends the vote to lift Owen Paterson's suspension for lobbying, saying it was about allowing MPs the "right of appeal" and bringing a "measure of fairness" to the process. He believes that Paterson's case highlighted a "glaring anomaly" and once the proposed alternative is settled upon there will be participation from across "different parties".
