Gossip Girl is being rebooted for today's modern social media age, and what better way to reveal the name of the characters than through Instagram?
The cast for the HBO Max drama includes up-and-comers Thomas Doherty, Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, Jordan Alexander, Savannah Lee Smith, Evan Mock and Zión Moreno, and now we've got names to link to the characters.
Each main cast member gets their own glossy photo of themselves posing and pouting, with their name and a character trait attached.
As the pictures prove, we've got a bit more diversity in the cast, which was something that was teased when the reboot was announced. We've got some non-white leads, and the promise of LGBTQ+ relationships.
Writer/producer Joshua Safran previously said: "It is very much dealing with the way the world looks now, where wealth and privilege come from, and how you handle that."
So let's get down to these cast shots. First up, we've got Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway, Savannah Smith as Monet de Haan, Zión Moreno as Luna La, and Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe.
Next up we've got Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, Eli Brown as Otto “Obie” Bergman IV, Evan Mock as Akeno “Aki” Menzies, and Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott.
Production began in November after some COVID-related delays, and is planned for released on HBO Max in the US this year.
The Gossip Girl spin-off will air this year on HBO Max – in the meantime, you can re-watch the original series on Netflix.
