Gordon Ramsay has revealed he is to expand his restaurant portfolio despite the pandemic as he has "to believe in supporting growth" in the sector.

The celebrity chef is to open three of his 'Street concept' sites in London in December alone, with more to follow in the new year.

The chef, who currently has 35 restaurants around the world, will open his first STREET BURGER offering on Thursday at One New Change in St Pauls. Openings on Charing Cross Road and Kensington High Street are also scheduled.

Ramsay also revealed he opened a third STREET PIZZA site today in Southwark, with a fourth to follow at the Battersea Power Station development on December 28.

Ramsay, 54, said: “I have never been prouder of the hospitality industry than I am right now. The challenges we are facing are very real and yet we are united in keeping our kitchens open, our teams working, and our guests looked after.

“Despite these challenges I have to believe in supporting growth, to creating jobs and opportunities and more importantly, opening really great places for people to eat out and have fun."

The new burger joint will offer "a mouth-watering menu of juicy burgers and stunning sides all crafted using the finest British ingredients", with a £15 opening offer that will allow customers to order a burger, side and unlimited soft drink for £15.

Opening the latest pizza site, Ramsay posted a video of the kitchen in action, captioned: "Can't wait for you to try it!"

Each new venue will offer bottomless pizza for £15. The Southwark branch, which will open below the Union Street Cafe, will offer a games and sports viewing area.

It comes after the chef, who along with Harry Potter actor Tom Felton, was among the most popular on TikTok’s list of most-watched videos of 2020 in the UK, announced he is also set to launch an upmarket burger joint, Gordon Ramsay Burger, inside Harrods.

Ramsay faced backlash last month after it emerged that one of the new restaurant's buns containing a patty made from seared Wagyu beef sirloin would set customers back £80. A portion of fries is set to clock in at £6.

The high-end offering has already been operating inside the Planet Hollywood casino in Las Vegas since 2012.

It will also offer a £42 lobster and shrimp option, packed with pickled vegetables and herb aioli, while the standard burger topped with the classic essentials costs £21.
