Google's Hyperscale Data Centre at Elmina Business Park Breaks Ground
ARA DAMANSARA – Sime Darby Property Berhad (“Sime Darby Property” or “Group”) is pleased to be part of the official groundbreaking ceremony for Google’s inaugural data centre at Elmina Business Park and the Google Cloud Region in Malaysia, which was held as part of its ‘Mantap Malaysia Bersama AI event,’ yesterday. The event was graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and other key officials.
This hyperscale data centre will be built by Sime Darby Property to Google’s customised specifications and infrastructure requirements. Upon completion, it will be operated by Google. This unique lease arrangement between Sime Darby Property and Google marks the first and only of its kind to-date by a developer in Malaysia. Moving forward, the Group expects to roll out more projects under this business model with high-calibre clients in technology-driven manufacturing and logistics businesses, in addition to the data centre space. These initiatives will go towards further growing the Group’s SHIFT25 long-term recurring income contribution.

The hosting of this state-of-the-art data centre by Sime Darby Property marks Elmina Business Park’s first major step towards becoming Greater Klang Valley’s Digital Hub. The park is designed to support the digital economy with critical infrastructure, including large-scale water and energy solutions. This development is expected to attract additional data centres, large-scale manufacturers, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Upon full development of Elmina Business Park in 2035, the broader business ecosystem is projected to create 35,000 job opportunities to meet operational demands.
