Goodfellas & Utopia Unveil First Image Of Pamela Anderson In Gia Coppola’s ‘The Last Showgirl’ As They Team To Co-Sell – Cannes Market

EXCLUSIVE: Goodfellas and Utopia are teaming up to co-sell Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, starring Pamela Anderson as a veteran Las Vegas showgirl reinventing her life, and will launch sales in Cannes.

The partners, who say the movie is already drawing international buyer interest, have released a first look of Anderson in the starring role.

Anderson plays a seasoned showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. As a dancer in her fifties, she struggles with what to do next. As a mother, she strives to repair a strained relationship with her daughter, who often took a backseat to her showgirl family.

Currently in post-production, the Las Vegas-set film also features Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka and Billie Lourd in the cast.

Kate Gersten wrote the screenplay, Robert Schwartzman (The Good Half) and Natalie Farrey (Her) produced. Cinematography is by Autumn Durald Arkapaw (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and Andrew Wyatt (Barbie) wrote the original music.

It is the first time Paris-based sales and production company Goodfellas and New York and L.A.-based distributor and sales company Utopia are joining forces to co-sell a title.

The deal builds on connections forged through Utopia’s acquisition and distribution in the U.S. of a number of titles sold by Goodfellas (ex Wild Bunch International) in the past, including Holy Spider and Vortex.

“We are thrilled to kick off foreign sales for Gia Coppola’s upcoming film, The Last Showgirl. This is exactly the type of title that distributors should be looking for: a compelling directorial voice, a stellar cast and strong theatrical potential,” said Goodfellas Head of Sales Eva Diederix and Utopia VP of Sales Marie Zeniter.

“Combined with a captivating narrative, this film embodies the strength, resilience, and creativity of female voices in independent cinema. Pamela’s performance shows a very different side of her, adding depth to the iconic Las Vegas showgirl. As we embark on this journey, we can’t wait for audiences worldwide to experience the magic of this film.”

U.S. rights are still available and repped by CAA Media Finance.

Utopia’s past theatrical releases include Sean Price Williams’ The Sweet East, Eddie Alcazar and EP Steven Soderbergh’s Divinity, Kristoffer Borgli’s dark comedy Sick of Myself and Ali Abbasi’s Oscar shortlisted and Cannes winner Holy Spider.

News of Utopia’s partnership with Goodfellas, comes just days after the Paris-based film sales and production company announced it would be handling international sales on Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, which world premieres in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
