KUALA LUMPUR, August 16 — Good Vibes Festival (GVF) is pleading with ticket holders to help them with losses following the cancellation of the two days of the thee-day event.

The organiser has appealed to ticket holders to donate their refunds in order to help save the local music festival.

Future Sound Asia via GVF’s Instagram yesterday shared a statement telling ticket holders that their contribution could help in the continuity of the festival as well as compensating the parties involved in GVF 2023.

This includes musical artists, installation artists, photographers, videographers along with the vast range of the festival suppliers and crews.

“We are continually grateful that you purchase tickets to the festival, that international artists choose us as a destination, that local artists perform amazing sets on our stages, that our partners and food vendors choose to work with us, many of them year after year.

“As you choose your refund option, please bear in mind that we want to be able to continue to put on this Malaysian festival that we love and are proud of and that we hope brings joy to you too; we want GVF to survive.

“If you can spare or defer any amount of your refund, it would be greatly appreciated and goes a long way towards helping to #SaveGVF,” they wrote in the statement.

The organiser offered ticket holders a few refund options to choose from which including an option to forfeit and convert their refund for GVF2024 or GVF2025 concert tickets along with a RM100 beverage voucher.

Other options include a partial or a complete forfeit of their tickets refund while ticket holders were still given the option to get a full refund as well.

The organiser also pointed out that they are trying their best to fairly compensate ticket holders at the moment.

“We are deeply saddened by what happened and know it is important to present a refund mechanism to help offset the costs that many of you have faced.

“The mechanism is not perfect and it may not satisfy everyone fully, but we hope you understand that we are trying to fairly compensate ticket holders as best as we can,” they wrote in the statement.

GVF2023 previously made headlines following the controversial behaviour of UK band The 1975’s lead singer Matty Healy on stage which has led to the cancellation of the remaining two days of the three-day event.

Since the cancellation, Future Sound Asia via their legal counsel have also sent in a letter of claim dated on August 7 demanding the British pop band to pay over RM12.3 million in damages over their controversy at the 10th anniversary of the GVF 2023.
