The longtime ITV host returned to the breakfast programme following a four month hiatus back in July, after Derek was taken into hospital due to coronavirus complications back in March.
On today's episode (Friday, August 21), she informed those tuning in that she will be absent next week as she's "taking a bit of time off" to help her children Billy, 11, and Darcey, 14, prepare to go back to school.
"Also Derek, look after things on that," Garraway continued, before going on to share how grateful she is to fans and the GMB team for understanding why she's had to be at home so much recently.
"I just want to say thanks to all of you for being absolutely brilliant since I've come back through challenging times," she said.
"Everyone here, [Alex Beresford], Ben [Shephard], Adil [Ray] and all of the people off and on screen have been amazing.
"The nice thing is everyone talks about ITV and television being this brutal business and it's not, it's a family and you've all been amazing."
While it's uncertain as to who will be filling in for her over the coming days, regular hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid are expected to make their own comebacks after their summer holidays on Tuesday, September 1.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
