“Good Burger” star Kel Mitchell gives health update after 'frightening' hospitalization

"That scare was real, but so was the support."

Kel Mitchell has given an update on his health after he was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

The 45-year-old Good Burger star said he is on the mend on Wednesday, but he did not elaborate on the illness that landed him in the emergency room.

"Grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surrounded me during a genuinely frightening time," Mitchell wrote on Instagram. "That scare was real, but so was the support. With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I'm now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family."

He added, "Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can't thank you enough."

A representative for Mitchell did not immediately respond to EW's request for additional comment.

TMZ first reported the hospitalization, adding that Mitchell seemed to be conscious and alert when he arrived at the hospital.

Mitchell will reprise his role as fast-food worker Ed opposite Kenan Thompson's Dexter Reed in the upcoming movie Good Burger 2, out Nov. 22 on Paramount+. More than 25 years after the original film, the dynamic duo are set to reunite with a new eccentric group of Good Burger employees.

Fellow All That alums Lori Beth Denberg and Josh Server will also reprise their roles from the 1997 comedy, joined by Jillian Bell and Lil Rel Howery.

"It is such a blessing," Mitchell said of the sequel in an EW interview in October. "I don't think we thought that we would be going back and doing Good Burger at this point, which is so beautiful, and it has a special place in people's hearts."
