There are a lot of cool things out there that make us wonder — do they really work? In our I Tried It series, we set out to use them in the real world and have determined that, in fact, they really do.

On Trial: Good American Always Fits Jeans

Tester: Jennifer Hussein, a beauty editor with constantly fluctuating weight

The Brief: I love fashion just as much as any style editor in New York City, but if there's one thing I refuse to wear, it's jeans — skinny jeans, to be specific. Most skinny jeans hug my body in ways that I absolutely disdain, highlighting my lower belly pouch and constantly making me look (and feel) like a super-packed Vienna sausage. And to make matters harder on my hate-hate relationship with skinny jeans, I inevitably gained 20 pounds from all of the sitting and eating I've been doing during quarantine, leaving what little supply I have of denim in my closet absolutely useless.

But there's a new kid on the block that's completely changed my view on slim-fit denim. World, I'm so pleased to present to you a magic pair of denim pants that could easily rival those iconic jeans from The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants: introducing the Good American Always Fits jeans, a godsend within the world of denim that fits like a glove, no matter how much your weight fluctuates.

Here's the magic behind these jeans: Instead of fitting only one size, each pair of jeans fits a range of four sizes — whether it’s through extremely thoughtful tailoring or pure witchcraft is unknown — and will fit to your body no matter how much your weight fluctuates. These ultra stretchy jeans take the guesswork out of traditional (and now dated) denim sizing, and are guaranteed to fit you comfortably and flatteringly 24/7, 365.

As an already-avid fan of the Khloe Kardashian-backed brand, I knew I had to get a pair of these jeans. Since my size fluctuates anywhere between a 4 and a 10 in traditional denim sizing, I decided to grab a pair that fits sizes 6 through 12.

Before I even stepped foot in these pants, I knew they were going to be good: They have an ultra soft feel and are pretty lightweight, plus they have a good amount of stretch. Think of them as an elevated, luxurious take on the jeggings of yesteryear.

Slipping them on was as easy as, well ... putting on pants. I didn’t feel any constriction around my thighs, hips, or waist, and they felt almost like I’d slipped on a pair of thick, comfy leggings. They’re high-rise, so they hit at just the right spot on my stomach where I feel snatched but not constricted, which was a major plus for me and my usual main issue with jeans. But it was once I stepped out of my room (and my comfort zone) and into the world when I truly noticed that these aren't just an average pair of pants.

“Jen, your ass looks amazing,” said my roommate once I stepped out of my room — and not to toot my own horn, but she was right. I’m not going to lie to you: Once I looked in the mirror, I started crying happy tears from seeing how well they fit me.

No, I'm not crazy, I'm just a girl who's suffered years of body dysmorphia and eating disorders and has finally found a pair of pants that actually made me look and feel like my best self, even though I currently weigh the most I’ve ever weighed in my life. To me, these aren’t just jeans — they’re a physical representation of confidence, which is something I never really had. Now, they’re honestly the only pair of denim pants that I feel comfortable walking around in public in without constantly stopping in front of any mirror I see to check if my “gut” is hanging out.

Does crying over a pair of jeans make me sound insane? Probably, but I know I'm not the only person who has this odd relationship with clothing, or their bodies in general.

Closing Argument: Do I really need to say more about these jeans to convince you how good they are? They literally made me cry from pure joy. Please do yourself a favor and invest in these jeans — they'll last you for life, and they'll change your entire perspective on skinny jeans (and jeans in general) for good.
