A group of friends in Indiana visited their local driving range on March 27, unaware that they would be teeing off during a severe thunderstorm.
Cooper Rigney visited the Topgolf driving range in Fishers only to discover he had received a severe weather warning on his phone. The National Weather Service had predicted “strong to severe storms” for the night.
“Swinging the club in the air mid lightning storm was not the smartest thing to do, we all admit that,” Rigney told Storyful. “It was a pretty dumb and exhilarating experience for us. A night we will remember,” Rigney said.
Rigney said that Topgolf’s safety protocols were “very good” and that he and his friends were brought to a safe area until the weather passed. The video shows debris flying through the air as the storm intensifies. Credit: Cooper Rigney via Storyful
