Golfer Adam Schenk Hits Hole-in-One — Into Spectator’s Cup! ‘I Owe You a Drink’

While playing at The American Express tournament, Schenk was able to salvage a birdie on the hole

Golfer Adam Schenk just couldn’t avoid the drink.

While playing the 16th hole at The American Express tournament in Coachella Valley, California, on Thursday, the 31-year-old tour pro hit his ball into a spectator’s cup.

According to the PGA Tour, onlooker Brad Harmeyer was holding his “cranberry-flavored drink” when the golf ball made the unlikely approach from 264 yards away.

The ball bounced onto Harmeyer’s chest before deflecting into his cup — and didn’t even spill much of the beverage, the tour said.

The golf fan smiled and raised his glass in seeming amazement, per the tour, and then drank from it as fans cheered.

Soon after, when the former Purdue athlete realized what he had done, he apologized to Harmeyer. “I owe you a drink,” Schenk said, and then signed the ball for the spectator and posed for a picture.

Schenk’s wife, Kourtney, posted visual proof of the most-unusual shot on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Good birdie from here, Adam,” she wrote alongside a close-up of the ball-in-the-cup.

Schenk was able to salvage a birdie on the par-5 hole. But on the 17th, his luck took a turn.

The golfer’s tee shot went into the water hazard and he finished the hole with a double-bogey.

Going into the second round, Schenk is tied for 98th at 2-under and is eight strokes behind co-leaders Zach Johnson and Alex Soren.
