Gladys Li wins Best Newcomer alongside Jace Chan, Bella Lam

17 Dec – Gladys Li, Jace Chan and Bella Lam were recently named Best Newcomer by the Metro Radio Hits Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the three singers were announced as the winners at a mall event on 14 December, which was attended by mostly fresh new singers, as well as their seniors Alfred Hui and Jason Chan Pak Yu.

Gladys, who attended the event alongside her fellow winners, stated that she is grateful for the honour, as it is her first ever accolade since making her music debut.

When asked if she is disappointed by the fact that Metro Radio did not hold its annual live event this year to award her and her fellow winners, Gladys said that she doesn't mind it at all.

"I don't think it's an issue to have it at the mall. I think it is more profound and worth remembering," she said.

On the other hand, Jace and Bella took to social media to express their gratitude over winning the said award, with the former writing, "I just realised that this is a real and memorable moment. This is my first singing award. Thank you for the love and tolerance for me over the past year."

It is noted that Metro Radio earlier announced that it has forgone its annual music event for safety reasons due to the ongoing Hong Kong protests, and stated that it will be awarding the winners through various platforms.

Aside from the three Best Newcomer winners, Metro Radio also awarded Terence Lam for Best Indie Performer.
