Even Korean hip-hop stars gush over their own idols.
Just look at Tablo of Epik High, who couldn’t help but be thrilled when he learned that Broadway star Lea Salonga has become a fan of his group’s music.
Tablo expressed his admiration for the Disney singer in a tweet posted yesterday, where he wrote, “Oh my God, Lea Salonga! I can’t believe you heard my music! I am a lifelong fan!”
The Korean musician even quoted a line from the theme song of Mulan, which Salonga sang when the animated movie was released in 1998. “Who is that girl I see?”
Tablo was reacting to a tweet posted by Salonga where she said she just discovered Epik High’s music. “Where on earth have I been…their stuff is fantastic!” she wrote.
Composed of Tablo, Mithra Jin, and DJ Tukutz, Epik High is an alternative hip-hop group that has released 11 albums since 2003. They’ve won multiple awards and is the first Korean group to perform at Coachella festival.
Meanwhile, Salonga’s 2019 movie Yellow Rose, where she appears alongside Eva Noblezada and Princess Punzalan, will be streamed on KTX.ph and iWantTFC from Jan. 29. It will also be available on Cignal Pay-Per-View and Sky Cable Pay-Per-View.
