“I want my ashes scattered over Bergdorf’s,” the famous New Yorker cartoon goes. If you similarly love the famed New York department store but are looking for a resting place that perhaps isn’t so final after a day promenading up and down Fifth Avenue, consider dropping by Bergdorf Goodman’s newest hidden gem: Café Ginori.

The diminutive restaurant—located just beyond the ground-floor beauty counters—is a candy-colored immersion in all-things Ginori 1735, the heritage Italian porcelain maker whose fanciful dishes can be spotted on the tables of the world’s hottest restaurants and in the china cabinets of It girls everywhere (not to mention the home of brand ambassador Jake Gyllenhaal).

Inside this jewel-toned den, the walls are covered in a print inspired by the brand’s Oriente Italiano pattern, the fabrics and furnishings are all part of Ginori’s new Domus collection, and—of course—the dishware is a veritable hit parade of Ginori offerings, from that signature Oriente Italiano collection at lunch to Gio Ponti’s Labirinto design at teatime.

“Ginori 1735 stands for art and beauty,” said Ginori’s CEO Alain Prost in a press release. “We wanted to create Café Ginori to bring our spirit into the lifestyle world and conceive a new dining experience that—paying homage to the uniqueness of the Italian culinary tradition—surprises at every visit.”

Indeed, the menu brings many delights, from beetroot risotto (in a shocking pink that matches its plate, no less) to delicate cookies served in a porcelain trinket box.

Of course, given the Italian theme, the eatery hosts aperitivo beginning at 4 p.m. and—after a spritz, or three—you may be so inclined to float upstairs to the seventh floor to shop the entire collection in Ginori’s new dedicated store-within-a-store. Heaven is indeed a place on earth!
