Gigi Chao and partner Sean Eav end marriage
14 Mar – Hong Kong socialite Gigi Chao, who made headlines in 2012 for marrying her lesbian partner Sean Eav, recently admitted that the two of them have ended their marriage.
As reported on Mingpao, Gigi, who is also daughter of Hong Kong billionaire Cecil Chao, confirmed the news to the media recently, saying that it was a difficult decision for both her and Sean to end their union.
"Of course, it pains the both of us. We have a lot of mutual friends and they are at loss," she said.
When asked about rumours of a new relationship between her and a person named JW, she said that the two of them are just friends who are supportive of each other.
It was reported that part of the reason that the marriage ended was due to Gigi's hectic schedule, especially after she took over her father's business.
Gigi and Sean were married in a civil ceremony in France in 2012 - a wedding that became a huge story in the media after her father declared his refusal to accept her as a lesbian, even issuing a HKD 500 million "dowry" for any man that could marry her.
