Gia Giudice Has 'Not Been Tempted' to Recreate Mom Teresa's Wedding Look for Halloween but Calls It 'So Iconic' (Exclusive)
"I love [my mom], but I don't think I would ever be her for Halloween," Gia tells PEOPLE
Gia Giudice won't be giving her mom Teresa Giudice's wedding look another moment in the spotlight.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star, 22, quickly dismissed the idea of recreating the instantly iconic bridal look — which Teresa, 51, wore at her August 2022 nuptials to husband Luis "Louie" Ruelas — for a Halloween costume. "I honestly have not been tempted," she tells PEOPLE.
That's not to say she wasn't a fan of the decadent, princess-inspired dress. "I mean, it was so iconic. She just looked so beautiful," she raves. "My mom's entire look was insane. It was so Teresa."
However, Gia says channeling her mom would be a bit too cringe-worthy for her. "I don't know, I just don't think I would ever go [out on Halloween] being my mom," she explains. "I feel like that could ultimately almost line up with [my embarrassing] 'waking up in the morning' [viral moment from RHONJ]. I think it could almost align."
RHONJ fans will of course remember the viral moment Gia is referencing, which has its origins in a 2011 scene from the long-running Bravo reality series. A then-10-year-old Gia surprised the guests at her younger sister Milania's birthday party by singing a song she wrote.
"Waking up in the morning, thinking about so many things. I just wish things would get better. I'm trying to get rid of them, but nothing seems to stay the same," she sang, seemingly addressing tensions between her mom and her uncle Joe Gorga.

The clip resurfaced 10 years later in 2021 as an audio sample that quickly went viral on TikTok, with more than 270 million people using the hashtag #WakingUpInTheMorning. A number of celebrities even tuned into Gia's song, including Cardi B, who gave a shout-out about it on Twitter, and Will Smith, who used the song for a TikTok of himself dancing on a bed for St. Patrick's Day.

Though Gia has no plans to channel her mom's wedding day look, plenty of other Halloween revelers have worn costumes inspired by it. Even Kelly Ripa got in on the action last year, dressing as "Wedding Teresa" on the Halloween episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan — big hair, tiara, sheer gloves and all.

Following Teresa's wedding, Mark Zunino, the designer behind her extravagant dress, shared his original sketches and a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the process of creating the garment, which he said featured details that "paid tribute" to the Housewife's family.
"@teresagiudice wore a custom Mark Zunino Atelier blush mermaid gown that featured over 300 yards of hand-draped English netting," he wrote in the caption at the time. "The train was over 100 inches long accented in crystal and pearl details with long white beaded evening gloves to match."
Zunino said "her veil was designed exclusively for her with three large hearts and the Italian phrase 'Sempre Insieme' which means 'Always Together.'"
However, what truly took Teresa's look over the top was her hair, which was styled into a dramatic, voluminous updo to help hold her custom crystal tiara in place. The hairstyle cost a whopping $10,000 to create, thanks to the custom luxury hair extensions that stylist Lucia Casazza used.
"As we know, my girl Teresa is the queen of Jersey, so we needed hair that was fit for a queen," Casazza said in an interview with Andy Cohen posted after the ceremony. "You go big or you go home. [Teresa] said, 'My hair has to be over the top.'"
