STORY: The cherry blossom season transforms the city into a river of pink flowers every year. Numerous people from in and outside Germany visit Bonn each year to see the blooming trees.
Since Germany has lifted many of its Covid-19 restrictions since the beginning of April, there will be no limit on the number of visitors allowed. The city of Bonn however still advices people to wear masks and to keep their distance from each other. In 2020 the inner-city of Bonn had been sealed off during the cherry blossom season due to the pandemic. In 2021 face masks had been a requirement.
The trees will bloom for a period of about two weeks. Since the cherry trees can age and die, the city has to replace them over time. For the planting period of 2022/2023, the city will plant eleven new trees.
