German device makes social distancing high-tech

Social distancing gets high-tech

Location: Mainz, Germany

This wearable device helps companies

put space between employees

It uses ultra-wideband technology

to record when two people

who are both wearing the device

are within 5ft of each other

(SOUNDBITE) (German) LEAD DEVELOPER AT PHYTEC, MARTIN PODOLSZKI, SAYING:

“Our device is clearly different, it uses, as already mentioned, ultra-wideband. Ultra-wideband measures the time the signal takes to travel from one distancer to another and back again. This is a very, very, very precise measuring method. That means we know exactly how far away the other distancer is."

Developers claim the device

provides more accuracy

than other distancing wearables

and can help avoid

the unnecessary testing of employees
