Geoff Stier Returns To Paramount Pictures As EVP Production
Former Showtime Networks and Paramount Pictures executive Geoff Stier is returning to the Melrose lot as the latter’s EVP of Production, reporting to Paramount Motion Picture Group Co-Presidents Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland.
Stier was recently at Showtimes Networks as SVP of Original Programming, however, from 2009-2017 he was an EVP of Production at Paramount Pictures during a time when he ushered in such great hits as 2010’s True Grit (one of the highest grossing westerns of all-time at $252M WW), World War Z ($540.4M WW), Oscar winner The Big Short, the Daddy’s Home franchise, Annihilation, Oscar winner Selma and much more.

At Showtime, Stier developed and supervised production on such recent Emmy nominated series as Ripley for Netflix, and the limited series Fellow Travelers for Paramount + as well as Paramount+’s Halo based on the Xbox video game.
Prior to his run at Showtime, Stier was head of U.S. production for Fabula, developing features and television programming for Chilean director Pablo Larraín’s banner. Before his time at big Paramount, Stier served as SVP of production and development at Paramount Vantage, where he oversaw the production of films including Into the Wild, 2x Oscar winner There Will be Blood, Margot at the Wedding, Defiance, and more.
From 1992-2002, Stier served as a producer for Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella’s Mirage Enterprise. During his tenure, he was responsible for the development of Mirage’s feature slate including the features Up at the Villa and Poodle Springs, as well as Ang Lee’s seven-time Oscar-nominated Sense and Sensibility, for which he served as an associate producer. While at Mirage, Stier was involved with numerous other films including Sydney Pollack’s The Firm, Sabrina, Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain and more.
Before Mirage, Stier served as the Development & Public Affairs Officer at UCLA for six years, helping to develop new programs for the Film & Television Archive, including The Film Foundation with Martin Scorsese.
