Genshin Impact: The best weapons for Yoimiya

Genshin Impact version 2.8 is now in its second half, with the 5-star Pyro bow DPS Yoimiya featured as the banner character in her first rerun.

If you've already pulled for Yoimiya, levelled her and her talents to max, and are now looking for builds to use for her, what’s next?

Getting the best weapon for her, of course.

Here’s a ranking of the best bows, both 5-star and 4-star, that Yoimiya can use for your reference!

Note: All weapon stats listed below are at max ascension, level 90. Information is accurate up to version 2.8

Thundering Pulse

Base ATK: 608

Crit DMG: 66.2%

No doubt about it, the Thundering Pulse is the best weapon for Yoimiya because it was tailor-made to be her best-in-slot weapon.

Aside from a high 608 Base ATK and a sizable 66.2% Crit DMG increase, this bow also passively increases Yoimiya's ATK by 20% as well as her Normal Attack DMG by up to 40% at max stacks.

The Thundering Pulse also synergises well with the effect of Yoimiya’s preferred artifact set, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, which further increases her Normal Attack DMG by 50%.

If you have enough Primogems (or luck) to get the Thundering Pulse from the weapon banner, then it will let your Yoimiya melt through any enemy in a dazzling array of arrows and fireworks.

Rust

Base ATK: 510

ATK%: 41.3%

If the gacha gods didn’t give you Thundering Pulse and instead blessed you with multiple copies of Rust, do not fret. At refinement rank 5, the Rust can even outperform other r1 5-star weapons.

What makes this bow Yoimiya’s 4-star best-in-slot is its passive, which increases the Normal Attack DMG of its wielder by up to 80% at max refinement.

Sure it has a catch, which decreases your Charged Attack DMG by 10%, but it’s not a loss because Yoimiya’s damage solely depends on her Normal Attacks.

The only thing that makes an R5 Rust worse than the Thundering Pulse is that the latter's substat is ATK% instead of Crit Rate or Crit DMG.

But if you don't want to spend Primogems to get the Thundering Pulse, just make sure you have a good Crit ratio from your artifacts and go with Rust instead.

Aqua Simulacra

Base ATK: 542

Crit DMG: 88.2%

The Aqua Simulacra lands third on our list as it’s a solid option for Yoimiya if you have it but don't have Thundering Pulse.

While it has the lowest Bast ATK among all 5-star bows at just 542, it compensates by providing an insane 88.2% Crit DMG at max ascension.

The weapon's passive 20% DMG increase whenever enemies are nearby is also a solid bonus to help compensate for its low Base ATK.

That said, Yoimiya's Normal Attack string forces her to move away from her target, so make sure you stay as close as possible to the enemy to keep the DMG bonus going.

Polar Star

Base ATK: 606

Crit Rate: 33.1%

On paper, the Polar Star looks like a great weapon for Yoimiya since it has a high Base ATK, Crit Rate substat, and a passive that increases her ATK by up to 48%, as well as the damage from both her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst.

However, the weapon's passive is difficult to reliably proc with Yoimiya.

In order to get all stacks, you will need to hit your target with your Burst and a Charged Attack before you starting your normal rotation of popping your Skill and spamming Normal Attacks.

In practice, Yoimiya will only get to reliably proc two stacks for a 30% ATK increase, which is good but not that great.

While you're free to alter your rotation to take full advantage of the Polar Star's effects, the weapon's conditional passive bumps it down our list.

Amos’ Bow

Base ATK: 606

ATK%: 49.6%

While Amos' Bow is a solid stat stick for Yoimiya that provides a ton of ATK, it isn’t an ideal weapon for her.

The passive 12% DMG increase to Normal and Charged Attacks is nice, but the other passive component that further increases that DMG based on how long the arrows are in the air doesn't do much for Yoimiya, since she relies on her quick Normal Attacks.

With that said, Amos' Bow isn't a bad option if it's the only 5-star bow that you have, but it's underwhelming compared to the other weapons in this list (yes, including Rust).

Just make sure to find enough Crit from your artifact substats.

Yoimiya is the banner 5-star character for the second half of Genshin Impact version 2.8, which will run until 22 August.
