3 Dec – While before this viewers have to pay to watch movies or series on streaming platforms, here's a new one called eWayang that allows viewers to not only watch their favourite local movies but also generate an income through it.

According to eWayang Managing Director Azmi Ismail, the point of eWayang is not only for movie viewing but also to help film producers, actors or anyone.

"The biggest difference between eWayang and other video streaming platforms is anyone watching a movie on eWayang can generate an income through referrals. For example, you buy a ticket to watch a movie on eWayang, you will get a referral link which can be shared with your friends, family, or anyone on social media. If your friend's interested and watches a movie through your referral link, you will get a commission of RM1."

"It's not just the viewers who can generate an income, the producers and actors can also generate side incomes, thus providing a win-win situation between the public and the producers," he said during the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between eWayang and Malaysian Film Producers Association (PFM) yesterday.

Azmi added, producers who screen their movies on eWayang will not face any hidden charges and with each ticket purchase, the producers will receive 50% of the movie ticket's price.

"The ticket price for eWayang costs only RM15 and the profit from each ticket sale will be divided evenly which is 50%-50%, so RM7.50 to producers and RM7.50 to eWayang. RM1 from each ticket will also be donated by eWayang to the COVID-19 fund, so viewers not only get to watch movies, they can also give to charity while doing so."

He explained that they will not stop donating once the pandemic is over, they will give the donation to other organisations instead.

At the moment, eWayang has eight movies available for streaming and will be adding more local movies soon.

Among the movies that are coming soon on eWayang are "Khurafat", "Saya Amat Mencintaimu", "Spinning Gasing", "Kanang Anak Langkau: The Iban Warrior", "Jadi Juga", "KastilTua", "Senjakala di Manado", "Bara" and "Ciliwung, Gudnite".

Viewers can purchase tickets not just for one movie, they can also buy them for a few movies at the same time via the combo packages that are offered at lower prices.

For every ticket purchase, viewers can watch the movie or movies without limits within 48 hours. Visit www.ewayang.com for more info.
