The race to Downing Street is on and celebrities are just as keen as other members of the public to make sure their vote counts in the general election.

Votes can be made from 7am until 10pm on Thursday in the first Westminster contest since 2019.

A number of household names have already made trips to polling stations, including the likes of Lizzie Cundy, Myleene Klass, Vanessa Feltz, Ashley James, Piers Morgan, Sir Tony Robinson and Charlotte Chiltern.

Taking to Instagram, socialite and former WAG Cundy, 56, revealed she had been the first in line at her local polling station.

Dressing to the nines for the occasion, she said that after casting her vote, she treated everyone to tea and biscuits.

Alongside a picture of her posing proudly outside the polling station, she wrote: “First at the poll station!! I charged in like a thunder bolt into my village hall, I cast my vote and then I bought everyone a cup of tea and a custard cream.

“Always a vote winner! Big day let's go! #elections #electionfever #politics #bigday.”

Elsewhere, Blackadder star Robinson, 77, shared a clip in which he excitedly waved his hands in the air and sang a specially penned ditty to mark his role in the the historical moment.

“Oh it's election day, yes it's election day, yes it's lalalalala election day, yes it's election day, crucial election day,” he enthusiastically sang.

Presenter and singer Klass, 49, also got in on the action, posting a picture of her heading to vote with her passport as she urged her followers to “to make change for you and for your children”.

Echoing her sentiment, journalist Morgan, 59, told his own online following: “Vote cast! If you don't vote, you have no right to moan, bleat, whine or chunter about the way this country is run.

“So, get down to your local polling station and VOTE.”

Former Made In Chelsea star James, 37, made it a family affair by taking her daughter along to vote.

She captioned the picture: “It's a beautiful day to get out and vote.”

While pregnant The Traitors star Chilton, 32, was joined by her mum, saying every vote counts.

TV presenter Vanessa Feltz said she felt “proud and privileged” to play her part in deciding the country’s future.
